Love of Photography

After spending the best part of the day going over and organising my mass photo collection (over a gig worth, that's a heck of a lot of photos) I decided to pick out my favourite photos and copy them to another folder and so began the list. From that I narrowed it down to my favourite 25 photographs that I have. Brought back some great memories.

Here they are, my top 25

Grant's New Year Party

What better way to welcome the new year then surrounded by many of my friends that i have come to know and love over the years. I Arrived to a disappointing start to the nights festivities with many simpsons videos lying on the floor and episodes playing on the tv. Greeted by everyone and surprised to see Lucy who had returned from Germany and telling us about the many wonders of Germany, David Hasselhoff is a god over there, so much so he's on tv presenting the simpsons. Soon the many CDs where brought out and music was played throughout the house.

Drinks were had and heads were spinning. A select few were lined up for a quick recruitment mission with the aim of dragging Adam Daley to party, he was having none of it (playing cards with family) and soon comprimised on coming over about one o'clock. Before long the time of the hour was coming upon us and we all gathered in the living room awaiting the almighty big ben countdown and spectacular fireworks display (as always it doesn't even get close with sydneys display). three...two...one...HAPPY NEW YEAR! celebrations were had, party poppers exploded, hats were put on and much dancing ensued. Soon after an old favourite from Hazel's birthday party was reincarnated in the form of ghost train, involving mixing various substances and containing a strong alcoholic content.

By 2am everyone was either pissed or incapacitated (see Carlos(hit hard by the ghost train) and Nat) when Sam and Jimmy C arrived from embo raving. Sam(formerly of designated driver status) was soon chucked outside to join us in the mass drinking in the aim of getting her somewhat pissed before the night was over. She somehow managed to avoid much of the drinkage and ended up getting a great video on her phone of the events. Being a foolish girl that she is Sam decided to move her car so that it was closer to the house(bear in mind no longer designated driver status), Grant and I watch in much laughter as she starts her car and drives past us in the aim of reversing into a space infront of Carlos' car. Let's just say it was a good thing it I told her to stop when she did, mere inches from upsetting Carlos' nice paintwork. Entertaining none the less.

Soon after Grant's parents came back from a party across the road and joined us for a final entertaining round of ghost train, with Grant's mum running straight off after taking a sip. In return Grant's dad made up some lethal brew that near killed us off in its suttle yet extremly strong alcohlic content. By this time system of a down was playing on the stereo and near putting us off to sleep with only few nodding heads in some sort of trance. Fearing the near end of the party I quickly change the cd to some more energetic and entertaining stuff from sum 41. What can I say. It soon woke everyone up(desired aim) annoying Andy Graham and Adam in the process, with them rushing over and dragging my laughing self away from the stereo and quickly changing the cd to offspring/blink (hmmm). At least it was more upbeat stuff.

Hasselhoff was played and enjoyed by all but the SOAD lot, raging banjos were struck and cartman sung his lil' heart out calling kyle's mum a bitch. To my delight more poppy(energetic, lively, upbeat, sing along type) songs came on and fun was once again had before Grant's parents kindly requested the music go off by 4am. Slowly we all drifted off to sleep for a few hours kip before the morning. What a night.

Everythings gonna be alright

Went to sleep last night with a few things playing on my mind.
Woke up with not a care in the world, Willow playing on the TV and was made happy.
Go up to my computer, turns on the speakers,
listens to the music remembering what i hoped for last night,
Realise everything was going to be alright...

Hooptastic Idea #12
**Build A Hoop Tower**
Take 2 people, two bags of Hula Hoops (any flavour,
but experts say beef's best) and a flat surface.
Each build a Hoop Tower.
The best builder is called Bob for the day.

To Friendship

details about hazels party shall be up tomorrow

Update: Hazels Party
the first big after christmas party was held at hazel's and what a night it was. saw many people i hadn't seen for a long time, inparticular sam in which i saw her last at my 19th birthday party(back in the day). it started out well, little space, mass people, drinks flowing, mass selection of music blaring. Conversations flowed, catching up on what peeps where currently getting up to, kappo having an ace job with lots of money, ant now owning a music shop and as such shall become my primary outlet for purchasing cds and various other things once i've located his store, esme ramming down my ear telling me she's hosting a new years party, and speaking to sam about the cookie i was hoping for for christmas. Much fun ensued, i blame the mass alcohol consumption and attempted joint rollage from some people. Soon after natalie baked us some cookies using a special recipe whilst a few nameless people decided to investigate whether or not sugar gives one a high, all lined up, in it goes. Let's just say that their results were inconclusive after having a cookie however they claim it stung, alot. Other highlights include steve falling down the stairs head first(he's still alive... just), if anyone has got a photo though please send it to us. To a lesser extent a bill bailey dvd was watched, and jen's words come to mind(although obvious from the outset)TV and parties do not mix i.e. it kills them off. Just as things started to die off, yes blame TV, jen comes up with a plan of playing twister and thus the excitement builds up again, waking up many a drifting fellow. Dawson kept on disappearing and reappearing throughout the night, what became of him is anyones guess, some random people arrived whom confused the masses and appeared to know hazel and dan made a guest appearance but was soon off again. After twister the party died down and some started to head off upstairs to bed(found out the next day one was available, should have headed up there) whilst the rest of the hardcore lot held out till almost five. And thus ended a very long and entertaining party that hopefully shall be recreated before most head off back to uni, if not, the summer awaits.

As always my post is in no particular order
[Emo part coming up> You have been warned]
Just been reading through the various posts on LJ over the past few weeks; Carlos' ability to make horley sound as if it is the place to be(back in the oakwood days)keeps coming to my mind on every post he writes; Jades newfound addiction to HTML and the many entertaining pictures from her digi cam, luckily she has yet to master the art of incriminating photos(going back to that great night over Jon's(TurkeyP's); Daws' recent entry, well done mate, truly brings to heart how great things can be and makes you wonder what the future may hold for ones self; Steve, his emo side never failing to shine through, as always reminds me of some the great things we've all done together.

Watched House Of Flying Daggers this morning and i have to say it's one of the most amazing films i have ever seen, beautifally crafted energetic and engaging from beginning to end. An immaculate retelling of an age old tail of love power passion and deciet all mixed in magical tapestry drawing the audience into it's world, truly an inspiring film.

Tonight we shall say goodbye to the year and welcome the next, highs and lows shall await us at every turn, resolutions shall be made and if you're anything like me always seem to fail at the last and most important(well to me)one of them all. Each year i make about 3 resolutions, usually succeeding with 2 of them and screw up the third on the final straight, MeatLoaf's two out of three comes to mind. This, well next year shall be dedicated to a new resolution that has well... i shall not go into it> emoness bad and ends up pissing me off into a depressed state< hmm, started out as not a bad paragraph, ah well.

things to be looking forward to in the new year
Seeing one of my best mates from Saud
Friendships
Reading Festival
Summer holiday to spain with family
Going to university

Another example of Microsoft being bastards. Just come home from a long day at college and work turn on my pc and open up my trusty Microsoft outlook to view my email my msn seems to tell me I have four unread messages yet outlook refuses to say that I have mail. It worked yesterday so why not now. Fiddle round with a few settings and it still won't work. Not until I specifically tell the program retrieve mail from my hotmail inbox do I find out that Microsoft are now charging people to use this feature. What the fuck, charge me to receive my email the way I like it.

All I can say is I can't wait for gmail to become more wide spread, it shall soon be taking over my hotmail account as dominant email, especially when it shall be compatible with outlook fairly shortly. Newsthread
A shame hotmail is only good for msn access.

That’s enough for my ramblings here, shall post shortly on the recent goings on over the past few months. In the mean time I’m off to watch me a film.

Whoa! What a night, Drunk as a skunk i was. Also thanks goes to Red Chris who safe gaurded my hoody (almost left without it).

Woke up to my radio alarm this morning, the sheer brilliance of it. Breaking straight into Eric Pridz - Call On Me, What a tune to wake up to. Andy has just notified me of a mass cinema trip today however i shant be in attendance, atleast not untill later on as i have a driving lesson scheduled. Got me test next week, arghhh so gonna fail. Anyhow i shall hope to see you all at the forresters in horley tonight from about 7 onwards.

Back to last night's festivities, can anyone tell me what happened as i can't remember too much :p. All i can remeber is drinking those disgusting shots urban suave style, chris and sam's long 'chat';), and getting suffocated (hugged) by some crazed drunk dude with wild side burns. Also dissapointed with those who left early, notibly, adam, grant, sam.

Also another final note before i go. I'm now back at college, wednesdays only though, redoing some business coursework before i catch up with those lot buggering off to university.

Shall see you lot tonight at the forresters, if not i want you all to attend the bell in reigate on friday about 6 for drinks and shall head off for curry(me not a big fan however going anyway) and drinks afterwards, shall probably be the last time i see many of you, at least until the summer.

Cheers
-Dan

Bagley's Birthday Pub Crawl

Not quite what I had hoped for. Although a good laugh throughout the 9 (well 8 actually) hole course I was disappointed I didn't do/say more on certain things.

The fact the pub crawl was in bagley's honor and he wasn't there made it quite entertaining. A big thank you must of course go to graham's mum, whom took pity on us drunken sods and gave us a lift back to our respective homes in the early hours. The mass drunkenness by the end of it, especially from Grant, Richard Wise, and Graham, was something not to be missed. It ended up with Carlos and I being the only sane ones which was quite impressive.

I shall have some of the photos available online however those after all the photos should ask Richard - the nights main photographer. Well I'm off to bed in my slightly, well drunken state.

I hope to see all of you tomorrow/later on at the cinema at 5.30, with or without money! Also don't forget there shall be another drinking session that's currently scheduled for Friday. While all of you are buggering off to uni can i ask that you keep in contact with us some how, keep your live journals going even if it is to say something random such as 'antelopes!', fish fish!. Can't wait to see you all at christmas time.

- Dan

Breadthings Farewell Gig

Firstly a massive thankyou to Breadthings for an absolutely outstanding gig on Tuesday night. Being their farewell gig before splitting up to go to uni they did a get job. Also a big shout out to the many fans who gave Breadthings such a great send off. With hits such as 'The Kenny Song' and strong fan favourite 'Ghostbusters', Breadthings can't fail to win the fans over.

After a strong performance from well known local band State Of Mind and a special apperance from Bagleys Band, Breadthings had a lot to live up to. What did they have up their sleeves, only time would tell. The arena is suddenly pitched into darkness, then instantly a flicker of light hits the stage, and the band slowly emerge. The crowd goes wild and Dave comes to the mic, says a few words and kick starts the band straight into '1907'. A frenzy erupts in the crowd, women and small children are pulled clear as the mosh begins.

Rolling into their no. one hit 'The Kenny Song' and steaming through such classic covers as Smashing Pumpkins 'Today' and System Of A Down's 'Chop Suey' the crowd remain ecstatic throughout. Hitting in with a brilliant cover of Radiohead's 'My Iron Lung' was just phenomenal, as was their exclusive dark take on 'London Bridge'.

Where else can you see such a band that gives us their all and do it so well. From their debut back in November 2003, Breadthings have been truly amazing throughout. Until their triumphant return i must bid farewell to a band of such promise.

The After Party

After the gig ended we all left and i was pursuaded to go to the Black Sheep Bar, fairly easily i must add. You all know what happened last time i went there. With many of you pointing this out to me and laughing, i decide to go anyway. With strong support from Hazel, Jen, Sam, Red Chris, Jon, Jon's mate, Jess, and Jess' Friend, we make our way over there. £2 on the door was all it took (impressed they didn't hassle anyone for id) and we were in. Meeting up with many peeps from college, Vish still sporting his tesco shirt. Dancing, or at least attempting to dance the night away. Drunk Enough To Perform comes suddenly to mind. The refusal of a certain sam to dance was quite disapointing, alas he had his reasons. Jess and her friend's very provocative dancing and Red Chris' wild dancing techniques all proved very entertaining. The intensity of the music soon deafened my ears, i could hardly hear a thing that was said (explains my dumbstriken look when you talked to me). Ending at 2.30am (fairly early considering it usually closes around 3) we all buggered off across the road to see off peeps and soon left for the station with Jen, Hazel, Sam, and Red Chris. This time making sure we knew where we were going, although that didn't stop Red Chris claiming we were going the wrong way in his drunken state.

We soon arrived at the station and went down onto platform where we met up with some very stoned people, one who claimed he was Moff out of Human Traffic. They provided us with much entertainment, running around begging everyone for rizzlers. We soon caught the train in search for somewhere warm, no idea where it was exactly stopping, just knowing that it was going in the right direction and would at least stop off at gatwick. Stopping off somehow at Horley (train skipped even Redhill which disappointed the many) we all got off, sam swinging out of the train door open and leading the way. With no idea where he was going I soon take the lead and we head down the road to roadrunners, amusingly with Red Chris still insisting that we were going the wrong way. After much debate of where to go, Tesco somehow the plan of the moment, we decided to go home. It wasn't long before we arranged for a taxi to take everyone but me to redhill and reigate. I saying goodbye to Jen and the rest before heading off on my way home. The walk home from horley reminded me of many good times past. So tempting it would be to recreate the great milk robbery of yester year. The starry night sky that reminded me of the deserts of Saudi and the hope for tomorrow. Hmmm, think i had a bit to drink. Getting home at 4.45 it wasn't long before i hit the sack. I was nakered by the end of it.

Any how, i shall see many of you tomorrow at Richards for dinner and i hope to see everyone at Reigate on Monday for the all day pub crawl beginning at 16.30.

Firstly i wanna thank everyone who came to my 19th party, (>me surprised at mass turnoutage) i had a great laugh throughout. Btw who brought the weed round and were smoking it in my back garden YARG! esp when parents in close proximity, ah well. (>bastards(lol)).

As requested I shall put the Reading photos online shortly, i.e. in the morning, and shall also include rare (>well in my mind atleast (can't remember half of what happened))photos from my party.

Photo CD's of the Reading Festival and more are available upon request and shall now include photos from my party. Also exclusive videos of the mass bottling of 50 cent now available, just msg me and it will come.

Whilst i'm on the subject of reading who is going to go there next year, for i certainly shall be. Apparently there are limited tickets available for purchase, head on over to the reading festival site for more info

Breadthings, your favourite local band shall be playing their final farewell gig before they split and go their separate ways off to uni. Well atleast until their christmas reunion. It's at the Cartoon in Croydon (no funny jokes about last time please). Tuesday 7th September. Be there from about 7pm onwards. With special appearances by State Of Mind and Noise Pollution's : Slighty Noisy you can't help wondering what surprises may await us at the gig. Remember it's £4 on the door to get in, also age, as always when i'm on the door is no problem. Be there or be square as the old tagline goes.

Dazed & Confused in a Fucked Up World, Part of a wider conspiracy. My Undisclosed Logs

Have you ever found that you can spot your mates fascination on some one a million miles away but when it comes to yourself you're never quite so sure. It's kinda strange how it works but recently this scenario has been playing on my mind. The problem with this is that she is close, well her past is close to her and for some strange reason i am second guessing myself. If this was someone else I would be telling them to go for it.

Certain events have taken place over the past few days that have led my to believe certain things. Reactions that I have observed continue to play on my mind.

Well here goes. Over at Richards on Thursday night and Friday morning I sensed that Jennifer liked me. To be honest I have liked Jen for quite some time but have failed to tell her. The reasoning behind the failings are silly but are there none the less and deal with the two Daves. On Saturday night over at Nat's something overcame me and this obviously lead to me not being myself at certain points. I was hoping to be able to speak to her properly, however tipsiness came forth, Dave's "ability" kicks in, much drunkenness ensues and I'm left outside talking to Richard (Bad wording i know but nothing meant towards Richard)whilst the rest are inside the tent.

My issue here is that I like to keep things as they are, I dislike change. What I mean by this is that I wouldn't want to screw my friendship up with people through admitting certain feelings. But without change how can things ever progress, situations will cease to improve, and things can only get worse. Call me stupid, an idiot, etc. It scares me because I don't know what would happen but at the same time it wouldn't be right to myself to deny such.

yarg!

We interrupt this program to annoy you and make things generally irritating

Around lunch we all got talking about our individual Top 5 albums that changed our lives. Nearly all of us managed to come up with a definitive top 5 fairly quickly, however many rarely strayed away from a specific genre which was kind of disappointing, mine I felt brought me through the years and included a diverse range of the music I so dearly love. as with a lot of ours, we each had our reasons behind our choices.

My Top 5 are as follows:
5. Bryan Adams - So Far So Good
-I have to thank my younger brother for getting me into this. This album got me into appreciating proper music and contains some of my all time favourite songs.

4. Blink 182 - Enema Of The State
-Yes, I know it's Blink and how much many of you despise them, however this is the album that introduced me in to the punk music that got me through my early teen years.

3. Nirvana - Nevermind
-Although the subject of much controversy between many members of our group this was certainly the band that started the grunge movement for me. If it wasn't for this album I would have stayed away from the alt music, grunge scene of which i now appreciate that much more. I got into them around the time I left Saudi Arabia, for which I have spent many years and had unforgettable times. Coming to live in the UK certainly helped me to love the alt music scene. It was either that or the annoying manufactured pop bullshit (most of it was shite at this point in time) and the annoyingly repetitive garage crap which just bugged me loads. My bro likes the garage scene, most of it is utter crap in my opinion.

2. Michael Jackson - Dangerous
-No collection of mine would be complete without a Michael Jackson song in it which is why this album has earned a place in my Top 5. I chose Dangerous above all his other albums as unlike the rest Dangerous managed to capture the essence of the times and saw a change not only in his life, but also many of his fans, including me. It opened us up to a whole new world.

1. Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell
-An absolutely amazing album from Meat Loaf. Meat Loaf is one of my favourite artists of all time and it's only fitting that he gets into the top spot on my list. His energy and ability to carry a song so well for so long is just phenomenal. I got into this album back in the day, good ole Saudi Arabia, when my parents would have a massive party every couple of weeks or so at our house. The illegal purities of alcohol flowed like water and music, always up loud, everyone dancing, and the surround system (ohh so godly) playing such fantastic classic songs. Above all the noise I believe that this album stood head and shoulders above the rest. At a time when I was swamped with CD's from the 80s & early 90s, the NOW albums (how great they used to be), and stranded from most of the music would, this album reminds me of how fun life can be and how rare such beautifully crafted music is.

Well I guess that concludes my Top 5 life changing albums.

First of, good luck to Steve and Toby of Broken Infinity for tomorrow nights gig at the Cartoon in Croydon. Enjoy yourselves up there.

I heard today was quite abysmal and yet eventful at college (I left early, not being arsed for the rest) with the fire alarms going off all over the place and raining heavily all day. Nat and Tim got into a big argument about something(apparently Tim takes most of the blame), all I can say is, knock him out girl. I must also thank Steve (grrr) for divulging certain information, of which for some reason i believed he would keep to himself, well at least longer than a day. Yarg my foolishness. Ahh well.

Also thanks Jen for an entertaining post about her new found hobie

The Day After Yesterday

First of all I must thank everyone who came to last nights Battle of the Bands. I'm not going to go into any hoo ha about the voting system as many others have. Instead I'm going to say this. Breadthings, what can I say, you were superb, even in your half drunken state (big it up for Banks, who did a wonderful job of telling the music techies to shove it). I must also give a Big shout out for Broken Infinity who also did quite well. Especially their manager, Carlos, of whom started many a mosh for them. Also well done on a brilliant website (such comic genius) and for beatting me to the photo postings. Broken Infinity - Check it out for yourself.

Also another thing. I'm currently in the process of setting up a new gig date for Breadthings. If all goes well then Breadthings should have a gig for Fri 11 June at Horley Baptist Church. Although the date may be subject to change make sure you clear your schedules and go.Hopefully there will be a few more bands in for the line up.

Untill Next, Goodbye
